Leave the M5 at junction 27 and take the dual carriageway towards Tiverton on the A361. At the roundabout at the end of the dual carriageway turn left to Tiverton and Witheridge on the A3126, after ¼ mile turn right at the roundabout, signed 'all routes'.

After another ¼ mile go right onto the B3137 signed Witheridge then 200 yards further on fork left on the B3137 again signed Witheridge.

Going through Withleigh, which is a nice wooded route, the road then takes the high road and offers vistas of Exmoor to the right and Dartmoor to the left.

Shortly after Nomansland the road forks left on a minor road to Chawleigh and Thelbridge. If you miss this turn then, at the sign indicating that you are entering Witheridge, take a very sharp left on the B3042 for Chawleigh and Thelbridge, which brings you back onto the right road.

Stay on this road and follow the signs for Eggesford and Chawleigh (the signs change to Eggesford Station and Chawleigh at times). Follow the road through Chawleigh towards Chulmleigh and Eggesford.

At a strange junction after Chawleigh bear left towards Eggesford station on the B3042.

At the bottom of the hill on meeting the A377 go across the road and over the railway line and the river to Winkleigh. 200 yards later turn right at Cott Cross to Wembworthy and Winkleigh (if you miss the right turn about 200 yards later you will be able to visit Eggesford Garden Centre). Carry on through Wembworthy and on towards Winkleigh.

Iddesleigh

Why not make a detour to Iddesleigh?

At a crossroads go straight across the A3134 towards Monkokehampton and Hatherleigh. Follow the road through the village and at a crossroads where the road bears round and is signed Bideford and Torrington, go more or less straight on following the signs to Hatherleigh and Okehampton. This is Townsend Cross and the road is named Hatherleigh Road. 200 yards further on you come to the Winkleigh Cider Makers.

Stay on this road, subsequently signed Monkokehampton, until you reach a main road. Go left to Monkokehampton (although it is worth making a 2 mile detour to visit the pretty village of Iddesleigh - also great food and beer).

Hatherleigh

The historic market town of Hatherleigh

Another 300 yards you turn left onto the Hatherleigh road (turn right here if you want to visit the historic market town of Hatherleigh, which is well worth a visit). Follow this road down the hill and at a T junction turn left and at the roundabout after the bridge go straight over onto the A3072 for Highhampton and Holsworthy.

After about 12 miles you need to fork right (at Cross Park Cross) onto the road signed Bideford, Torrington and Bude.

Holsworthy

The busy market town of Holsworthy

In Holsworthy go straight over roundabout, following the A3072 in the direction of Bude. At the bottom of the hill go right towards Bude.

50 yards on turn right by the Esso garage on to a minor road signed Bradworthy and Chilsworthy. Go through the village of Chilsworthy until you reach Bradworthy, about 7 miles after Holsworthy.
